Tutoring: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enrol my child for tutoring?
Please complete the “New Student Enrolment Form” available at the Lindfield Learning Hub, then we will contact you to discuss details of your enrolment. Enrolment is for one term and priority is given to students previously enrolled. Sessions are invoiced (by email) once per term at the start of the term.
For what ages do you offer tutoring?
We offer tutoring to school children from Kindergarten through to HSC.
In what subjects do you offer tutoring?
We offer tutoring for all ages in English and Maths. For year 11 and 12 students we offer tutoring in all levels of Maths and English as well as Chemistry, Physics, Senior Science, Biology, Legal Studies and Economics.
What qualifications do your tutors have?
Our tutors have a range of backgrounds and expertise. Some of our tutors are qualified teachers while some are university students with excellent credentials in their chosen area of study. All our tutors are skilled at engaging with students and preparing appropriate content for tutoring sessions.
How long are the lessons?
Sessions are either 45 minutes or an hour for primary school students. For secondary students, sessions are one hour. Extra or longer sessions can be arranged closer to exams or during holidays, subject to tutor availability.
How much does tutoring cost?
The cost will depend on the age of the student, the experience level of the tutor, the length of the session and whether the tutoring is individual or small group.
Is there a waiting list?
It is often the case that our tutors become booked out well in advance, particularly for HSC tutoring. By completing the “New Student Enrolment Form” you may be placed on the waiting list for future available sessions where appropriate.
Do you offer individual or small group tutoring?
We offer both individual and small group tutoring, with groups limited to 4 or 5 students.
Small group tutoring is available where a suitable group of children with compatible needs can be formed. We also offer a small group HSC Advanced English four week workshop.
Do you provide tutoring for students with special needs?
We are happy to discuss with you any special needs your child may have, so that we can determine whether our tutors are able to help.
Does tutoring run only in school terms or also during the holidays?
Generally tutoring is run during school terms only, however holiday sessions may be offered subject to tutor availability. During the school holidays we offer a range of workshops to primary aged children such as phonics, art, creative writing, science and robotics. To find out more visit our website at www.lindfieldlearninghub.com.au to check “What’s On” and sign up for our newsletter.
Where are the tutoring sessions held?
All tutoring is held in the Lindfield Learning Hub
Can I cancel or postpone a lesson if my child can't make it?
If students or parents wish to cancel a lesson 24hrs notice must be provided. This may be done via phone or email between the hours of 9am and 5.30pm. If 24hrs notice is given, the student is entitled to a makeup lesson. Makeup lessons are organised at a suitable time for both the student and teacher usually at the end of the term. There is a maximum of one make-up lesson per term.
Do I have re-enrol each term?
No, you are automatically re-enrolled from term to term, unless we are notified otherwise.
For further information, please drop into The Hub for a chat. We prefer to talk to you in person than over the phone.
